This the third of a series of letters from early Kinzer settlers in the mid 1800s.The persons identified have their ID numbers in parenthesis and italicized. Kinzers are in bold print.

LETTER FROM HENRY & ANNE KINZER TO SAMUEL LINN SEPTEMBER 8, 1839

Dear Bother & Sister

I’m very happy to inform you that we are all in good health.  At this time and ____ Bean(?) so this summer for which we are very thankful to Almighty God for his great mercies and goodness towards us in our old and declining years hoaping that these few lines may find you all enjoying the same blessings.

We received yours of July informing us of Catherine recovering slowley out of her long spell of sickness which I am well aware of that people in advanced age will not recover so soon as a young person.  A few years ago Anney had a verey ____ spell of ____ fever which life and death had a very hard struggle.  I never saw any person lower than she was but had longer ____ but did ____ fully recover in health and _____ for more than one year after.  But thank God for his great mercy and goodness  we both enjoy perfect health.

At this time you mentioned in your last letter of a cure for a canser.  As my daughter>Stoner is afflicted with a canser on her body below the short ____.  __ ______ we should be pleased for you to procure a receipt and send it on if it will not be to inconvenient.

Our friends here are all in health with the exception of our son John he is verey delicate but is improving slowley.

I must close for want of room .  If we were present with others I think they wood not trouble us for a while of a night.  Anney and all the famaley all ____ me in our ___most affection’s for you and family.  Write soon and let us hear from you.
